Welcome to my world, Carrie Blackshaw.com
I have been a self-taught makeup artist/Drag Artist since December 1989. Throughout both my professional and “drag” career I have worked for many makeup lines such as MAC cosmetics, Professionals, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Vincent Longo, Too Faced, and Glamour Shots. I am a licensed Esthetician and attended San Francisco Institute of Esthetics & Cosmetology . I graduated & licensed March 2011. I am a licensed Esthetician in California, Washington DC, Maryland & Virginia and soon NYC.
I started my professional makeup career in 1994 when I moved to Las Vegas, NV. While there I was in a Vegas style female impersonator review. After the show, ‘Un-Boylievable’ ended I started working for Glamour Shots. I quickly moved up the makeup & hair food chain to become the lead makeup artist. I was very fortunate to meet and work with all kinds of people and working at GS gave me the chance to work with different skin types and complexions. While working at GS I also befriended a fellow Mall employee who had the inside scoop that MAC cosmetics in Dillard’s was hiring. I knew this was my chance to make my move. One thing led to another, but when I interviewed I had two makeup interviews, one with natural and one with dramatic makeup, that started my career with MAC. Having both backgrounds, one in retail and freelance Drag makeup landed me the position with that very coveted makeup company. Unfortunately for me, this was short lived, I eventually moved back to Seattle, WA and the following years I began to do freelance makeup in department stores and for private clients. With Makeup and Glamour comes many opportunities, I have had the opportunity to work and hobnob with many talents such as recording artist Kristine W, CC Peniston, Tiffany, Kenny Kerr, and Toni James the list continues to grow. Throughout the years I have also been involved with television and feature films. As with most drag performers, I have also performed participated and reigned as a city title with the Imperial court system and in pageants both regional and international . I have ‘mothered’ new queens as well as the painted many Halloween starter drag queens as well as mentor and style them. Many from my beginnings know me as Whitley Lexington, but “as we go through life, we go through different stages, you grow, you learn, you try to turn the pages,” and that is how I came to be Carrie Blackshaw. Currently, my drag persona and appearances are by request. However, I do accept & make bookings around the country and abroad, and also perform for fundraisers within my community when asked. If you like what you see and would like to book my sense of style to your event by all means leave me a message with your event details and someone from my camp will be in contact with you. To see me in action, take a look at my performance page of past performances. Many more to come. Thank you for visiting, without you…Well you know.
